Golf Cart Repair Pricing in Pinehurst
Here is what golf cart repair costs in Pinehurst and Moore County, published in full. The service call is $50 to $100 and includes the on-site diagnostic; it is applied toward the repair when you approve the work. A lead-acid battery pack is $700 to $1,200 installed, a lithium conversion $1,600 to $3,500, a brake adjustment about $75, and tires $75 to $150 each installed. The exact number depends on your cart model and pack voltage, so the fastest way to a firm quote is a photo of the battery compartment and a one-line description of the symptom.
Most shops in the cart business make you call for a number. We think publishing it is the trust signal, and it lets you check our work against anyone else’s.
Service call and diagnostic
| Item | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Service call, Pinehurst / Southern Pines / Aberdeen | $50 to $75 | Includes full on-site diagnostic |
| Service call, Seven Lakes / Whispering Pines / Carthage | $75 to $100 | Includes full on-site diagnostic |
| Applied toward repair | Yes | Approve the work and the fee comes off the total |
| Diagnostic only, no repair | Service call stands | You get the findings in writing either way |
The diagnostic is not a glance. It is a load test on every battery, voltage across the pack under load, charger output measured at the plug, a solenoid check, and a controller check. On a flooded pack it includes a hydrometer reading of each cell. You get the findings whether or not you approve a repair, so even a “no thanks” gets you a real answer about what is wrong with the cart.
Battery replacement
| Pack | Installed price | What is included |
|---|---|---|
| 36V lead-acid (six 6V) | $600 to $1,000 | Install, cable and terminal check, watering, core haul-away |
| 48V lead-acid (six 8V or four 12V) | $800 to $1,500 | Same; premium brands such as Trojan at the top of the range |
| Typical lead-acid pack | $700 to $1,200 | Most carts land here |
| Lithium conversion, 48V 50 to 60Ah | $1,600 to $2,200 | Battery, lithium-specific charger, mounting, gauge |
| Lithium conversion, 100Ah and up | $2,500 to $3,800 | Larger capacity for long-range or hilly daily use |
| Single battery replacement (young pack only) | Quoted per battery | Only where a load test shows the rest of the pack is healthy |
What moves the price inside the range is voltage, brand, and capacity. A 36V Club Car DS with six 6V batteries sits at the bottom. A 48V cart with six premium 8V batteries sits at the top. Lithium is priced by amp-hours: a cart that runs a few miles a day around Pinehurst No. 6 does not need the same capacity as one doing a full loop around Lake Auman and back up the hill. The battery replacement page has the lead-acid versus lithium math laid out honestly.
Old cores leave with us at no charge. Lead-acid batteries have recycling value, so there is no disposal fee and no 60-pound batteries left in your garage.
Brakes and tires
| Service | Price |
|---|---|
| Brake adjustment | About $75 |
| Brake shoes and drums | $100 to $250 |
| Full brake overhaul (shoes, drums, cables, hardware) | $200 to $400 |
| Tire installed, standard | $75 to $150 each |
| Set of four tires, standard | $300 to $600 |
| Set of four, lifted or low-profile styles | Quoted; above the standard set |
Sand is the reason brakes and tires cost more per year in the Sandhills than they should. The Moore County soil survey maps somewhat excessively drained Candor sands across the county’s southern half, and that fine sand packs into brake drums and scrubs tread. If your cart rides unpaved community paths, budget for a brake and tire check every year. A $75 adjustment caught early is a $400 overhaul avoided.
Electrical: solenoids, controllers, motors, chargers
| Service | Price |
|---|---|
| Solenoid replacement | $100 to $250 installed |
| Speed controller replacement | $300 to $600 installed |
| Motor repair (brushes, bearings) | $300 to $600 |
| Motor replacement | $600 to $1,000 |
| Charge port or minor charger repair | $100 to $300 |
| Full charger replacement | $300 to $800 depending on brand and output |
| Cable and terminal service | $75 to $150 |
Two honest notes. First, a cart that “will not take a charge” is a charger problem more often than a battery problem, and a charger test at the plug costs nothing extra during the diagnostic. Second, the controller is the part most often replaced when it did not need to be. A controller gets condemned only after the solenoid, the throttle input, and the pack under load have all been ruled out.
Tune-up and annual service
| Service | Price | Includes |
|---|---|---|
| Electric cart tune-up | $100 to $200 | Battery water and load test, terminal cleaning and coating, brake adjustment, tire pressure and wear check, lights, all connections |
| Gas cart tune-up | $150 to $300 | Above plus oil, plugs, filters, belt inspection |
| Spring pollen service add-on | Included | Battery-top wash, charger and controller vent cleanout |
| Storage prep or return-from-storage | Quoted with tune-up | Full charge, water, disconnect, or recommission |
The Sandhills calendar has two natural service points: spring, after the longleaf pollen has settled onto everything, and late fall, before the Carthage station’s roughly 62 freezing nights a year start revealing weak batteries. The tune-up page and the maintenance calendar explain both.
Street-legal and ordinance equipment
| Service | Price |
|---|---|
| Light kit install (headlights and tail lights meeting Pinehurst visibility distances) | $200 to $450 |
| Lighting circuit repair | $75 to $200 |
| Mirror install | $30 to $80 |
| Turn signal and brake light kit | $150 to $350 |
| Seat belt kit | $100 to $250 |
Village of Pinehurst ordinance section 71.17 requires mirrors on any cart operated on village streets and working front and rear lamps for any operation between sunset and sunrise. Whispering Pines asks about mirrors and lights on its registration form. A cart converted to run above 20 mph becomes a low-speed vehicle under state law and needs the full equipment list in G.S. 20-121.1, including turn signals, seat belts, and a windshield. The ordinance guide has the details.
What changes the price
- Voltage and battery count. Six 6-volts is a 36V cart; six 8-volts or four 12-volts is a 48V cart. Higher voltage, higher pack cost.
- Brand of part. Premium batteries (Trojan and equivalents) and OEM controllers cost more than aftermarket equivalents. We quote both when both are reasonable.
- Cart age and condition. Corroded cables, seized brake hardware, and rusted battery trays add labor. We tell you before we touch them.
- Distance. Pinehurst, Southern Pines, and Aberdeen are all within about 10 minutes of the village center, so trip fees trend low. Seven Lakes, Whispering Pines, and Carthage are 18 to 20 minutes out and trend toward the top of the range.
- Lifted or modified carts. Oversized tires, lift kits, and high-speed motors take longer and use different parts.
Where these prices apply
Everything above applies as written in Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen, Seven Lakes, Whispering Pines, and Carthage. There is no surcharge for gated communities; we just need your gate to know we are coming.
Get a firm number
Send the brand, the number of batteries you count in the compartment, the symptom, and a photo. You will get a flat installed price and a scheduling window, usually same-day or next-day. If the diagnostic turns up something different from what you described, you get a revised number before any work starts, never after.
